About Teaching and CourseSource

I teach a variety of undergraduate courses including non-major’s biology, field botany and general botany.  Whether in the field or classroom, I aim to create scenarios or problems that help students confront the concepts that challenge them and make connections among biology ideas.  I enjoy having students engage in interactive lessons which gets them to share their thinking with each other and with me. This type of classroom engagement helps reveal those “sticky” points for students and identify areas for improving instruction.

CourseSource provides the teaching community with a hub where instructors can share their diverse and tested approaches to engaging student in biology.
